Ethiopia prepares seven-year strategic plan to prevent, control TB

Dec 25, 2013 (WIC) – The Ethiopian Ministry of Health (MoH) said it has prepared a seven-year strategic plan to effectively prevent and control the spread of tuberculosis (TB).

 TB Disease Program Advisor with the Ministry, Dr Anteneh Kassa, told WIC today that the plan to be implemented as of next month will help reduce the speared of the disease by 35 per cent.

An agreement was reached between the ministry and regional health bureaus so as to implement the seven year strategic plan, according to Dr Anteneh.
All health stations are currently providing TB treatment, he said, adding health extension workers deployed in every corner of the country are undertaking community based TB prevention and control activities.
