HIV/AIDS has marched in a seemingly relentless fashion across Africa for the past two decades. The devastation wrought in our homes, towns and communities has been the focus of most of the stories that have come out of Africa about the pandemic. However, little has been told of the thousands of daily triumphs that have been won by families and communities in their daily battles against AIDS, nor of the gains that have been made- usually in the face of enormous odds- by communities with little or no resources. This, too, is a daily reality of the unfolding story of HIV and AIDS in Africa.
