The second edition of AIDS Therapy is intended to provide current, comprehensive, and easily accessible information with which to address those issuers. The editors are gratified that the first edition of AIDS Therapy was enthusiastically received and have attempted to build on that successful approach fo4 this edition. The section on antiretroviral therapies contains chapters on individual drugs which have been newly approved since the last edition, as well as chapters on new classed of drugs under investigation. Sections on immune-based therapies and structured treatment interruptions have also been expanded. Chapters which deal with initiation of therapy, resistance testing, and management of failure of antiretroviral therapy have all been extensively revised. The sections on opportunistic infections have been updated to reflect new drugs, new diagnostic tests, and new approaches to management in the era of HAART.
