They can cause genital infection, infertility, abortion, still birth, pneumonia, neonatal deaths, and are associated with cervical cancer; death during and after childbirth, birth defects, impaired vision, blindness; shortened life span and death especially due to AIDS.

The study and knowledge of STD is essential for improving the health of the community. This book was conceived keeping these aspects in view and an effort was made to address all aspects.
