A Giant Billboard, with a Giant Mission was Unveiled at Meskel Square!

Stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) has become as much of a problem as the disease itself. A billboard, unveiled at Meskel Square in Addis Ababa, encourages change in people's attitude towards PLWHAs to reduce stigma and discrimination. It also addresses the need for committed leadership and participation of everyone in the fight against the pandemic in hope of transitioning out of the present dark reality to a brighter, HIV/AIDS-free tomorrow. The billboard measures 40 X 10 meters and is also available in poster format for distribution to HIV/AIDS stakeholders. Please stop by or contact the ARC for more information.

Want to Know More About Women and HIV/AIDS?

Worldwide, more than 50% of people infected with HIV/AIDS are women. In Africa, the percentage is much higher, and continuing to rise because women are especially vulnerable to HIV infection. If you are interested to learn more about how HIV/AIDS affects women, and how gender inequalities contribute to the spread of HIV, check out this new website sponsored by UNIFEM and UNAIDS. Gender and HIV/AIDS is the first website dedicated completely to gender issues and HIV/AIDS. You can access Gender and HIV/AIDS at http://www.genderandaids.org
