In general, the Conference aims to provide an opportunity for
stakeholders to review the national response to the epidemic to
date and help set agenda for future action in the prevention,
treatment, care and support programs in Ethiopia. ENCHA’s
specific objectives are to:
- Provide a platform for presenting new research, sharing information
and best practices, and highlighting successes and challenges
encountered during implementation of the national HIV/AIDS multi-sectoral
strategy in Ethiopia;
- Underscore the central role of basic, clinical and prevention
science in the development of evidence-based programming for
the national response to HIV/AIDS;
- Provide opportunity for science, government, community, policy-makers,
and leadership to come together and dialogue on the national
HIV/AIDS policy, leadership, and governance to advance national
collective response to HIV/AIDS and increase commitment and
responsible action based on evidence;
- Close the HIV/AIDS knowledge gap and accelerate action on
HIV/AIDS by enabling those working in the field of HIV/AIDS
to be better prepared to meet the needs of those affected by
and living with HIV/AIDS and catalyzing improvements in policy
and program formulations and scale-up of best practices.
- Promote dialogue, education, and create networking among
participants and institutions
- Strengthen the national capacity to host HIV/AIDS conferences,
including regional and international conferences.
- Support the participation of PLwHA, those working professionally
in HIV/AIDS, and communities engaged in the response to HIV/AIDS
being transparent in the way the conference is planned and executed.
- Expand public awareness of the continued impact of HIV/AIDS
in Ethiopia
- Lay down the foundation for new mechanisms for institutional
capacity building in HIV/AIDS Prevention, Treatment, Care and
Support
- Lay down the groundwork towards the formation of an Ethiopian
HIV/AIDS Society
