System Overview
The AIDS in Ethiopia Online Database is featured with a series
of dropdown selection request forms. You fill in the forms to
specify the criteria for your data request, and then submit the
form to be processed. The results of your query are usually returned
within seconds.
When you receive your results, you can view them online and
then, if you desire, save them on your personal computer so that
you can load them into another program or copy through your clipboard
and paste into a spreadsheet or statistical analysis program.
System Requirements
This system will work with most web browsers. It is recommended
to view the pages using Internet Explorer 4.0 or later for all
the formatting to be displayed correctly. The pages do not contain
Java Scripts or VB scripts.
Searching Tip
This online database system will enable you to query for a specific
indicator by region, residence, period, age category and gender.
You can combine one or all of these criteria to specify your query.
For instance, you can either take one of the 11 regions or view
data for all regions by selecting "All". By default
all fields except Indicator is set to "All". You can
only view data for one indicator but different sections of region,
residence, period, age category and gender at a time.
The results of your query are usually returned within seconds
depending on the connection speed you have and the number of rows
you have requested. By default 20 rows are displayed per page.
You can change that to a larger number but processing the result
may take a long time. It is not recommended to display more than
500 rows at a time. You should also narrow down your criteria
to get less rows per request and faster data loading.
Exporting Data
All the query results in this system are HTML tables listing
the specified fields and values about a given indicator.
You can export the data by selecting the resulting table by
clicking and dragging the mouse over the entire result table then
copy and paste it into a word processor or spreadsheet or statistical
analysis software.
You can also save the whole file by using the "File"
and "Save As" buttons on your browser to save it as
an html file but the "Next" and "Previous"
buttons may not be used for record navigation after saving it
to your hard drive. You may have to adjust the number of rows
to be displayed to show all rows in order to get the entire data
for your criteria to be saved in one file and avoid navigation
by "Next" and "Previous" buttons.
