Pre WAD Activities
Events are taking place in the various parts of Addis Ababa
in connection with World AIDS Day. One such event took place
on November 29, 2007 at the Addis Ababa Municipality.
Addis Ababa HAPCO in association with its partners across
the city today hosted a ceremony for Addis Ababa's high
achieving Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC). The event
hosted 600 OVC who performed well in school over the past
year; each child was given a gift to congratulate their
achievements and enjoyed a vibrant concert performed by
their peers. The ceremony included traditional Ethiopian
dancing and an awards presentation for the 600 children.
It was clear that each child was proud to be there and proud
of their own achievements. The room was full of hope, inspiration
and life.

At the event, Save Lives Ethiopia (SaLE) showcased art
work from its Youth Art Project, which displayed art from
15 young people, including 3 who have received grants to
attend Addis Ababa's art college. The art work displayed
was of a truly professional quality with 50 pieces on sale
at the Municipality Building until Saturday 1 December 2007
(for further information please contact Email: savelivesethiopia@ethionet.et
or +251 - 011 - 4404692). The project has enabled these
young people to foster their ambitions, hopes and a career,
which the pieces displayed proves will go far. Through the
output of these young passionate people it is obvious that
their dedication, ideas and zest for life will inspire them
in their future careers.
